"for his alleged contempt"
And that ladies and gentlemen is what we call polishing a turd.
There is nothing alleged about it, it is all clearly shown on the record & only the most mentally challenged (here is your opening blue) could look at his behavior in this case & imagine it wasn't really contempt.
I'm a guy on the interwebs & I have been way more honest in court proceedings that this schmuck. I don't have a dead sheep skin to hide behind & expect a pass for. All I had was being truthful & my ethics to not sink to the level of the actual extortionist lawyers. I was held to to a much higher level than the lawyers were & I am shocked that even with 1000's of troll cases filed there are still Judges willing to overlook "irregularities" & ethical lapses.
When weird dude on the internet, who claims to be an immortal sociopath, is seen as more trustworthy... perhaps the profession is in need of an enema to clean that sh... out.

"with the intent"
With the presumed intent seems like a better line.
One can not know the inner workings of another's mind.
Did Alex Jones MEAN to have his fan base send death threats to the Sandy Hook Parents?? Or were those messages just collateral damage in his shtick to get money from ignorant people?
Did that YA author MEAN to have her fanbase figure out whom she was talking about & have them descend upon her to the point where she removed all of her social media accounts for daring to think her books weren't that good for college students? Or was she just so upset over 1 tiny quote in 1 tiny paper she needed to speak out?
Did Ken White MEAN to hand out JLVD's office address & phone number to doxx him? Or was he just sharing the email as it was sent?
Does giving out easily found information so someone can contact an elected offical cross the line if 1 person out of 500 who saw it decided to call in a bomb threat instead of saying they disagreed with a proposal?
Does taking photos of people in public at a protest rise to that level or should a school have not caved to the possible trauma for others finding out they had been at a protest?
Doxxing is a tool, it can be used for good, it can be used for evil.
The problem is trying to understand the intent.
I totes doxxed some bad lawyer types, & despite what they told courts, I never misused what I knew.
I totes doxxed Craig Brittian & got his nudes he posted online.
If I released them would I be violating the proposed law?
Even if you could find them online for yourself easily if you were so motivated?
Trying to pass a quickly written law to "fix" the possibility of the Whistleblower being outed is doing the same thing over & over and expecting a different result. The problem is larger than the whistleblower & trying to quickly do something always leads to bad laws that sometimes we can't fix. See Also: Patriot Act, Bill allowing 9/11 Families to sue the Kingdom (despite there being no actual legal recourse possible).

Pot Meet Kettle.
Screaming about breaking up Facebook b/c they were mad their weekend pics from the KKK meeting were taken down & they stole our data... they think...maybe, kinda, sorta....
Actual harm, but hey corporations are making money & we like these corporations they pay us better than Tech.

Power causes a form of brain damage #9809328
Thank the FSM that their lawyer had the balls to explain to them that they shot themselves in the foot & were preparing to shoot the other foot by pursuing it.
For them to be this mad really sort of draws attention to them & should get people very curious what the hell these people are doing that they need to try to hide things from them.
That Anonymous Coward (profile), 6 Nov 2019 @ 7:12pm
This winning metric screwed up the justice system, disaster relief, & everything else its touched... why not use it to allow the corporations to demand handouts & freebies so we can "win" where in winning is paying more for even less.
That Anonymous Coward (profile), 4 Nov 2019 @ 2:24pm
So the last 3000 times we gave them exactly what they wanted or the world would end still wasn't enough.
Pity the people we vote to elect seem to be beholden to corporate people who seem to have brain damage & have no problem screwing us in the process.
I can't wait until someone manages to get the 9th Circuit to rule that this scene stole the look and feel of some other project & the entire industry just starts suing each other & stops meddling in the world.
That Anonymous Coward (profile), 4 Nov 2019 @ 2:21pm
One does wonder what he's trying to cover up.
Trying to spin it as a benefit is disgusting, wanting to hide what they have done in office on our dime is slapping the public in the face.
They are hiding what they are doing while we pay them, on what planet is this acceptable?
We still have members of Congress using WhatsApp to hide their communications, it full on violation of the law & nothings happened.
A cop walks by your car and THINKS he smells pot & they can haul you out, preach at you, baptize you... but we can't make sure we can check up on what are leaders are doing.

When the routes to report & stop abuse are abused, perhaps the system is broken.
Its nice we pay lip service to people reporting crimes/bad behavior but when the system destroys them to protect the image of those doing wrong... perhaps its time to start over.

"but if anyone unknowingly was doing a search on ShortLine services and this article came up they would not see that it was fake news"
Wacky idea... take the money you paid the stupid lawyers & use it to improve your company a bit. Then there won't be any horror stories online that people will stumble over.
Better idea... if your execs fear a bad review this badly, perhaps you need to starting auditing the books.

"are less likely"
Please to show us the evidence.
Actual real evidence where a creator was actually harmed and unable to use the court systems.
We should no longer accept the word of lobbyists who told us the Boston Strangler would murder their entire industry. They have screamed the sky is falling & flat out lied about being harmed using "Hollywood Accounting" tricks to rip of investors & creatives who worked on such turkeys as "The Empire Strikes Back" which STILL hasn't broken even on paper... yet they paid Lucas billions for a worthless shitty IP.
Instead of pretending that someone making a meme or even DLing the whole fscking movie is costing them 100 Millions dollars, how about we clean up their accounting tricks first?
I sure would love to be able to make 40 million in a weekend & magically make it look like I am still losing money on monday & avoid paying taxes & investors.
We have veterans dead on the streets b/c we can't be bothered to make sure they get the care we promised.
We have children going to bed sick & hungry b/c we can't be bothered.
We have bridges that are ready to collapse, pipes that are poisoning children, planes falling from the sky, tainted meat & veggies, etc etc etc...
And these motherfuckers are trying to create yet another magical system to protect copyright holders from imaginary boogeymen.
We can't eat IP.
We can't drink IP.
We can't use IP to stop the bleeding.
We can stop catering to their every fscking whim, they are having record breaking years but somehow we need more laws to make sure they don't lose a dime while diabetics are dying because of price fixed insulin.
They think they are losing money now, where do they think the money is gonna come from while the poor keep dying off & no longer can afford a ticket to a movie to try and escape the hellscape this country has become... but at least that fucking cartoon mouse is protected.
Wait for the next shoe to drop, when they demand that judgements in copyright cases can't be discharged in bankruptcy just like student loans. A single funny image used "without permission" is worth a persons income for a year. A pox on both your houses, you are both disconnected from the reality the rest of us are living in & its sad.

And this has nothing to do with using metrics about wins to get a budget & for ever nonwinner we take some away.
Imagine if they just funded them to the levels needed to ensure they could do their job against all companies not just revenge porn assholes like Craig.
That Anonymous Coward (profile), 25 Oct 2019 @ 5:18am
If not for the invention of silicon they never would have been able to steal our content, so this is why we asking a court to outlaw silicon & allow us to carpet bomb.
This line of thinking needs to be pursued...
If we weren't making content, people wouldn't steal it.
So they should go to court suing themselves for creating the problems & allow the rest of us to go on with our lives.
That Anonymous Coward (profile), 25 Oct 2019 @ 5:13am
And yet they will manage to point out how much they spent on theses shitty systems as more evidence of how the poor just want even more.
Its trendy blaming the poor for being poor...
Why else would someone think that someone on welfare could clear up alleged 30 yrs of debt b/c the gov failed to check their math??
Your life doesn't suck enough, we're gonna add more debt & interest... we might even balance our budget.
Its easier to abuse the poor until you hit that point when there aren't enough of them to blame or round up b/c your indifference finally killed them. They don't vote enough to matter & definitely don't make millions in contributions to keep law makers in office to keep people focused on the poor & not those who don't want to pay their fair share.
When the rich pay less in taxes than people on welfare... perhaps the flaw isn't the fault of the poor.
That Anonymous Coward (profile), 22 Oct 2019 @ 9:57pm
Everyone keep your eyes on their social media streams.
Find those copyright owners & let them know these elected officials stole from the but we have this new court where they can get paid.
Sometimes you just need to weaponize the stupid & use it to collect the heads of the idiots who said it was a good idea. Let see how many 30K fines we can get from Collins until he stops laughing about it.
