I'm sure this is a great article. I've read it, and it got confusing. Just what, exactly, is "Right To Be Forgotten?" In one or two sentences please...
When I was first attending University, I wanted to do one thing. Work for NASA... the second was to work in Exobiology. Neither happened, but I still studied Astronomy and Biology. I was absolutely fascinated with Spiders and Snakes, and anything else that had an overwhelming poison arsenal, because I could see then - that was way before documentaries started popping up - that this was a field to be reckoned with, and I was right. BUT! and that's a big but, my University had me on a watch list that I never knew about until after I was finished. They "watched" me because of my fascination with poisons, narrow minded fux, and poisonous creatures. I mean, I asked alot of questions in lectures over my years, asked for materials through the Campus Library that were 'extra-ordinary', but I always thought about the implications of those poisonous animals.
That was a University. Imagine now, having reports made by some College grad - a BA or BSc where "... the trigger for the reporting mandate is based on the vague and undefined term 'terrorist activity'.”
This isn't a slippery slope argument. This is the trigger for unchecked biased judgment calls. Next stop, Search Engines...
What's so Amazing! Freakin' Amazing!! is that I haven't heard that name since 1982 - in grade seven! We smoked doobies, and listened to Iron Maiden & Billy Idol - yeah, that was hard then :)
Have you ever been in a Library when you're high? I understand the name 'Doobie Decimal System'
This is funny, but it's a tragic comedy - must've run out the royalties...
Just to bring everything into the open, the 'kids' in 'Southpark' had the dictionary redefine "Fag' as Noisy, Obnoxious, Ignorant" just being a general asshole.
Someone butts in line; "What a fag". Someone steals your parking spot; "What a Fag!"
Never saw the movie. Pretty much everything I learned about any Patrick Swayze movies I got from 'Family Guy'.
I watched ~20 minutes of 'Roadhouse' and hit the bricks.
I've been 'sent to a corner' and that's the only inference I ever got from the TD ad I saw maybe three times.
This is just a busted ass bunch of Lawyers and Accountants driving Lionsgate (see Anonymous Coward upstairs), and it's kinda funny 'cuz they'll get burned I'm sure...
I had not actually heard of this until today. It makes me happy that Start-up supporters will have this back-up plan in their corner. I have a KickStarter page drawn up, but it has not "gone live", because I'm exhausting every possible source I can (and I haven't given up yet). The way I see it is Start-up Funding is a very fragile privilege, and the slightest, smallest bump, will scare off anyone who wants to help, but won't because of this example. When it gets right down to it, Chevalier's crowdfunding still doesn't get payed back, and that's going to hurt some real innovators and 'visioneers'. What is confusing, and perhaps I skimmed right past it, is that all of the Funders should have been given the same amount of detail and planning (that is provable), and substantiated before these funding drives start. For example, a Business Plan, a Marketing Plan, Letters of Reference, Goals and Plans, and the levels of successes achieved so far towards those goals, and why this is at KickStarter in the first place. Nevertheless, he's still called a Fraud and that's gonna scare off backers, but it will increase the amount of due diligence and research needed to protect future backers. I applaud the Gov's efforts, or lack thereof, to get this "lying swindler" to do right, but a few months in jail would have taught him a lesson or two. IT WAS FRAUD and THEFT! and not the nice kind we all saw from Wall Street Bankers and Investment Houses in 2007 thru 2009. 2010, the news atarted taking breaks from reporting stuff, 'cuz they were gonna get away with it... In the end, it's not KickStarter's fault, they were just starting out (like it's already been said) and I'm sure their long hard look at themselves' will fix, if not already fixed, these kinds of loopholes. If I had contributed, it would have only been after seeing any and all data this thief should have been able to provide from the start - and not the rent receipts, or the lease on his new car - I'm sure it's there... you can always cancel a payment if you think you've been ripped off.
I had to look these things up, and they kinda read like a non-disclosure agreement... are these almost the same thing, 'cuz Imma going into a studio and the work that'll be done won't be out for a while (~ten months) and I don't want anyone talking about it, in any way. Will / is an NDA about to become a useless piece of paper? AND, forgive me if this comes off a little stupid... I've been up for two days writing. I'm slowly acquiring diminished capacities :D
