Can someone explain to me, in terms that laymen can understand, what would be Google's motivation to even have an office in other countries. It only obligates them to follow local laws, which eventually will be impossible. I mean, they already can't have offices in countries that ruled by Islamic law. I would only have them in the US, that way you only have one set of laws to worry about. And they don't need an office to collect revenue from advertising. So what do these offices contribute that could possibly be worth the hassle?
No, what this is about is cronyism using secret negotiations to engender an agreement that WILL, when it's finally revealed the night before the ratification vote, require a change to US law. And those changes will be to prop up legacy business' failing business models.
Wanna bet which one of us is right, once we finally get to see the damn thing?
No, of course not. They would say that the "creators" set the price, since it's theirs to sell. But since the creators see precious little, we would have to say THE LABELS set the price to be absolutely accurate.
All this market talk is a smokescreen for gouging where they can get away with it.
If if really was priced according to it's true market value, it would all be $0.99 worldwide.
And it would all go to the artists, the true "creators", not these increasingly pointless distributor/gatekeepers/labels.
I work in a call center, and we have a sick-callout line that I'm responsible for answering that unfortunately many agents give as the number to contact them during working hours. (I say unfortunately because I can't transfer the calls to them if I wanted to, as their phones are on a different system).
Anywho, I get a LOT of calls from collectors. When I politely inform them that this is a call center too, and that the agents can't get calls from this line, I always ask if this is an emergency (so that if it's a doctor's office or a school, I can take a message.) If they say no, then I say I'm sorry, I can't help you. Please don't call this number again.
Recently, the callers have taken to saying "Yes, this is a financial emergency. That gets them a less polite "This is business, please remove this number from your database" and a hangup.
I understand that they are just trying to get their money, but if they don't want to be perceived as scum, maybe they shouldn't be lying asshats.
But isn't it true that every insurgent, every terrorist, every member of the Taliban and such are CIVILIANS? We're not at war with a country. We are at war with an idea. In the war against an idea, ALL are civilians.
TPP extends copyright to "for all time". If there is no one to give the royalties to left, the royalties go to the government of the country of the last known copyright holder.
Well, they didn't spend a year on the making of the video. Or even a week. I've seen Roger Cormen cheapies shot in 3 days from the 50's that look and sounded better.
I REALLY concur with this. Really socially liberal (out of the bedroom and our bodies) and really fiscally conservative (you know, not spending money you don't have).
Seems simple. Why can't we get a candidate that is this? WHY?!?!
We would need to have a better understand of from-where OUR consciousness arises. There's no use in talking about simulating conscousness if we can't prove that we ourselves are "just" simulating it.
The collective works of Douglas R. Hofstadter address this in MUCH detail.
Since the message was UNSENT, how can you PROVE that the cop didn't type the message himself? He picked up the phone, started "messing with it". Not that I think that that happened (I'm hoping a detective couldn't even THINK of that bad grammer), but still, in a court of law, how would you prove he didn't?
You guys can patent sex, I'm gonna patent Jesus, God (big and little g), and Jehovah. That way, I can sue organizations that actually have money! Hell, the SBC license alone will be more than the GDP of many smaller European nations.
It has been my observation that the ONLY people who ever say that the nation is less Christian, are themselves Christians. No one else ever seems to notice this. And in fact thinks the exact opposite, that the Christians are taking over the government.
Funny how your perspective colors your view of reality, huh?
You are right, sir. But the important word in your statement was SUPPOSED. It's not SUPPOSED to be, but it is. And I don't see a bloodshed-free way out for us, alas.
IANAP, but it would seem to me that there should be a setting that if "infringement" is less than a minute long, it's probably a clip, and so okay. If Vobile doesn't have the ability to set a setting like that, then it truly is a POS and should be dropped. Is it possible that Ustream or whoever installed Vobile just didn't set it up properly?

Yeah, that makes a whole lot of sense.
It punishes good-doers and doesn't affect the evil-doers.
In what conceivable way is this a productive solution?

No?
Name one inventor who has been paid royalties from the winnings of a case by an NPE. Just one.
I'll wait.
