According to Sharia Law you are probably as guilty as they come right now. So lets extradite you Afghanistan and let the Taliban give you due process by stone and send parts of your dismembered corpse around the country.

Government has been paying for healthcare for a long time. Now it is forcing everybody (well, tax-liable individuals) to pay for healthcare whether or not you want/need it.

These aren't laws...these are corporate policies made in collusion (NBC=Comcast) to limit competition, fear of threatened liability or imposed regulation, or corporate buddyism (see cross-pollination of board members).

The people stopped SOPA and PIPA here in the US. Activating the community can persuade representatives, over the $ from the special interest groups.
Well our detractors would say it was Google but, hey, they refuse that the voice of the people won out over $.

Re: Re: Not so fast
Yes! At my work we like to have somebody signed up as a notary. I decided to do it for a few years. As an engineer with absolutely noooooo legal training, all I needed to do was fill out a one page form, send in $30 to the state and wait for my certificate and five page instructional brochure to show up. Renewal. Just send in the fee. No training...at...all. This is basically a fee to be attest that somebody actually signed paperwork.

Re: Re: Not so fast
Come on now guys! You are here railing against the anti-licensing idea (licensing - just a piece of paper that proves to some bureaucratic system that you 'know your subject' most likely through a multiple choice test) and the actual abilities of the somebody who was interviewed and screened proving their actual ability to teach. Licensing made some sense to prevent amateurs failing at a job that had life saving or extreme safety concerns. Now we license florists...seriously! Really the licensing thing has gotten out of hand. A tool to help grow the bureaucratic government and money grab. A tool to keep out competition. And maybe we will prevent the next florist from bouquet-ing up poison ivy.

Yes, because Lowery's whole concept is based on the morality of file sharing. Of course, morality has nothing to do with economics...which is kinda the point made numerous times by Mike, et. al. on this blog. All the moral outrage from the content industries only brings terrible laws by the moral police (government) to the detriment of basic human rights. Moral outrage won't bring any more money from fans...especially when fans (paying customers or not) are constantly called thieves and idiots by the morally superior.

Seems like they are singling out pornography producers shakedowns in their statement. Albeit, the standard should cover all companies trolling for quick shakedown settlements, since NBC-U isn't a 'porn producer' Comcast doesn't want to do the dirty work for somebody else but would gladly give it up if it was their own content being infringed.

yet no one can explain why the controls for the power grid are on the freaking net to begin with
They're not. Industry has been self regulating, locking up, isolating, and protecting their grid controls for decades. CISPA will not change the way utilities do business except for allow us to share user's private data with the government with impunity.

Re: But..
First off, he doesn't talk about the 'network' money from which he probably didn't get much of a cut. It would be interesting to see the numbers, though. Of course, we are talking about advertising money either way. The show made money on the networks through advertising and the show makes money now on YouTube through advertising. Sure, they probably got more ad revenue per commercial on the network but much lower viewership. Now viewership is exploding beyond the network reach. Sure the ad rates are lower but the increase in views should make up the difference or perhaps better as we have seen in many examples. Let AC (Lowery) continue to think his way is the only way as extinction looms closer.
