Re: Should have called it "Post-Digital Propoganda"
So if journalism is to be defined as the restricted, government-approved dispersion of information. and propoganda is defined as follows:
prop·a·gan·da/ˌpräpəˈgandə/
Noun:
1.Information, esp. of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view.
2.The dissemination of such information as a political strategy.
So journalism = propaganda...I was wondering when this was going to happen!!!
If it weren't for piracy, I could have made a $15 billion profit last year instead of $5 billion. Piracy is preventing me from making all the money I want!!!!
Umm, what about those of us that travel a lot. Burn a few movies to our laptop computer to watch while we're traveling. (read: stuck in an airplane for hours.) No dvd's to lose or leave somewhere. Oh wait...That's what Hollywood WANTS us to do. Lose the disks so we have to buy them AGAIN!!!
For those saying we're not "buying" it we're "licensing" it...If we're licensing them, they should replace any "lost" media at no cost.
No BlueRay
No Games that contain Securom
No Sony devices whatsoever
No Music or Movies that they have their name on
Music and movies from Sony, I can agree with you on.
They actually make decent electronics though. Since I'm not a big console gamer, I'll never own a PS3. The TV's, cameras and Blue-ray players are pretty decent.
Yep...Will be easy for me to participate. There's nothing coming out that I'm just dying to go see. In fact, there's absolutely NOTHING coming out I'm even interested in seeing in the next few months.
Files become scarce when Sony starts going the Disney route and locking stuff in their "vault". In 20 years, they'll release them again for a "limited" release thereby creating artifical scarcity..
I just ordered a DVD player from France so I can watch this new French film that just came out. I can't watch it on my American TV...Something about needing a PAL - NTSC converter. I think I'll just go to piratebay and download it.
Me thinks this AC is actually a member of the **AA crowd. Leave my interwebs alone and actually make decent material easy to purchase (and not excessively priced) and maybe I won't download illegal stuff.
It goes like this:
Me:Hey, you gotta check this new movie out, it's really good.
Friend: I'd love to, but I can only find a region 1 release, I can't play it here.
Me: Aww, guess you'll need to download it.
Region codes and DRM was the start of all this. Get rid of them and make stuff available everywhere and you wouldn't have this issue.
Obviously, no one has ever seen TV shows over public TV in Europe and Great Britain. The US is one of the few contries that gets all uptight about nudity on TV. "Think of the children!!!"
As a test, I turned my wifi off on my phone for a month just to see how much "data" I used. I didn't change my habits, and intentionally streamed movies that month to push my data usage up. At the end of the month, I was JUST over 3gb.
I'm sure if I did nothing but stream movies, I could get pretty high, but that's a little unreal. About 90% of the people will NEVER go above 1gb a month.
You can block the search engines all you want. Chances are the people that regularly visit those sights have the URL bookmarked, so they don't need to do a search for it. Using a search engine is not the ONLY way to find rogue sites.
I got to "idiot" and couldn't continue reading the list because I was laughing so hard...IDIOT!!! That's a bad word? Quick! I must update my filters!!!
