I am sure artists being human will react differently depending on their own beliefs. I had a piece of art created by N8 Van Dyke done a few years back. I sent him a picture of the tattoo and told him the truth.. the drawing appealed to me so strongly I had it permanently inked into my body ;) He was thrilled and actually sent me a large autographed lithograph of the piece.
and how much more of this magical disappearing bandwidth gets used if I download a 120 MB file to my tethered computer vs downloading a 120 MB file to the memory card in my phone? I paid for the bandwidth.
I usually do not nit pick the posts over things like acronyms but please tell me the NATO referenced here is N? A? Theater Owners. Although I can almost see getting the more famous NATO involved in Copyright matters if ICE doesn't step up its game and get more aggressive :)
As far as Time Warner is concerned they believe they have the rights to allow their subscribers to access the content they have payed for using a display device that access this content over the network connection that they pay for. Jay's question is actually much more on point than the people bashing him.
The BETTER business decision could have been to use those lawyers and their billable hours to draw up a license that would allow the blog to continue to promote the NYT website.
Groupon's stance on the matter seems fair to me -
"A Groupon is good until its expiration date; at that time, the merchant will still have to honor what you PAID (NOT face value), for five years or in accordance with state law. It's five years in Illinois, and that's the most strict in the country, so that's what we ask merchants to abide by.
So if I spend $20 to buy a $40 Groupon for one dozen roses at Flower Shop, when it expires the merchant owes me a $20 credit to their store. They don't have to give it to me in one dozen roses, but they do have to give me a credit (not cash) for what I paid."
So to avoid 'making the dumbest political choice you can make'
You check a box that says Democrat. Primaries come around and the only candidate that is even close to aligning with your ideals happens to be a republican and loses in the primary that you couldn't vote in but the Democrat that you wanted to elect as sheriff got your primary vote. so much for that plan
Do not hold your breath. The whole point of these things is to scare people into sending money, not to actually bring the people in front of a judge and have the case heard.
That's odd. I am someone who visits this site several times a day and agrees with Mike (and other 'editors') more often than I disagree, yet I installed an ad blocker years ago and do not 'whitelist' any site including techdirt. So He does not get any revenue aside from my onetime 'insider' purchase from my traffic. I have never been pressured by him covertly or overtly to view the adds so if it 'hurts' it does not show.
You once again attempt to fully engrace me with your presence, but with a weak lametroll attempt.
Who informed you of the best place to get breaking news? Did you figure it out all by yourself? I ask because I want to give them a reference to work for my competitors.
