As I work in broadcasting (radio) i send shows to stations in several countries using weblockers i guess i am out work when this bill is law. so Mandleson et al can expect a law suit from me for money lost.
Copyright is bad not good Artists would have more incentive to create without it they only have to do a couple of good songs and sit back and watch the money roll in if they did not have that they would have to keep on creating. or perhaps im preaching to the choir.
are valid of course and correct which is why i cant see why the UK is going down the road it is as even government have said in the past, "you can only enforce a law if that law has is agreed by the people". and these draconian laws are Not agreed with by the people.
Have really over stepped the mark now with a radio news stotry where hotels and guest houses have to pay 170 GBP a year because they have television in guests rooms that could play music.
The artists should realise as has been said before that this is a way to get music heard and get fans. Internet radio is being screwed in USA and UK with demands for pay per play in UK it is about 3pence per listener per play usa i not sure of but about 3 cents is probably about right
there is a bit of "somebody think of the children"what the government and others have not figured out yet is that to ban something is the quickest way to gain traffic or sales. That has happened with music many time where a song has been banned by say BBC radio quickest route to a number one.
In the case of web sites any 8 year old will work round the ISP block in minutes. where if left alone would not bother.
Dont know where you live but our council actively encourage open wi-fi with the library city hall theatre and a vast number of public and businesses places including the reception of our local radio station. offering open wi-fi at the request ( and in some cases payment by city hall). in fact it is so well covered that the city centre is more or less blanketed. + machine boothes in other places with a USB port for a memory stick.
