Well it was the fairly large public backlash against the plans that caused Paypal to change their minds... but Politicians and large international conglomerates will probably just blame Social Network companies, without understanding that they are just platforms for large groups of people.

Been saying this for years, just think of the effect of shutting down an International Hub after detonating a bomb in the security area... as much as I'm not a fan of the state of Israel the security there does seem to make more sense than anywhere else, they watch you from the moment you park your car all the way through to boarding the plane.
The biggest US based providers and re-sellers react to DMCA, my provider just tells them to "go forth and procreate" in some eastern European language that I don't understand.
Usenet may be coming to an end, albeit with a massive bang, as many people have jumped to it rather than traditional filesharing... but who can blame them, from beginning to end you can grab a DVDR in a few minutes.
And watching your government systematically dismantle your rights in order to have the opportunity to host a mega sporting event that brings in a lot of money to the IOC and sponsors but not the host nation, except maybe some Conservative campaign contributors is not insulting? Parody doesn't need to be funny, especially if it is sending a message.
All Google has to do is show that it complies with any DCMA style takedown requests on apps shown to facilitate infringment and they should be off the hook... luckily they have the cash required to fight this out.
No I go to no bother at all, given that I cann read headers from posts directly in my client or I can use any other number of websites that index NZBs.
Another reason why blocking one very small indexing site is pointless.
it's pointless.. it took BT 6 weeks to block my access to an NZB indexing site that I never used (Newzbin2) but I can still access it using any number of free web based proxies.
Blocking TPB is just going to use the same type of system!
Can someone remind me just how much the entertainment industries contribute fiscally to the worlds GDP and whether that % warrants this level of legal manipulation?
