I didn't trust or like Bush and I don't trust or like Obama.
Whenever anyone tries to change SS, Medicare, Medicaid & Immigration, the Dems step in and vilify the person. Union backed Obama and Dems have not even Tried to change immigration, where is their bill? GOP had the balls to at least TRY by putting a bill out there, but Union Socialistic controlled Dems won't even try.
Bush also tried to Privatize SS, like Chile's system that's been copied in 30 countries including Australia and Sweden, but the Dems, Media and GOP hammered him for trying. The Socialized Risk/Debt of Medicare, SS and Fannie Mae (Public/Private Partnership) are going to devour the US from the inside out, but the Dems won't let anyone touch these programs.
These ruling are showing us the resulting push to increase presidential powers, started many years before Bush. Granted, Bush benefited from the Patriot Act installed by Congress, helping to further enhance the Executive branch’s powers.
Obama and every President forward will seek to increase and “improve” the power of the presidency regardless of party affiliation. They do it to “protect” us and their legacy. Its human nature to seek more control when threatened and terrorism is the inexhaustible source that will help every president challenge the Constitution under the guise of protection. We the People need our representatives to restructure the Patriot Act for a more focused purpose or remove it all together.
I can’t wait to see how the documents released by Wikileaks stack up to what Scooter Libby was convicted, fined and commuted for doing. http://preview.tinyurl.com/2ax4co5
Perspective has been a media favorite and magic’s friend forever. Perfect example is the uproar about the Sharrod video. The truth is the media, WH and NAACP all screwed up and are now trying to play off their screw up by
distracting
us with the racism hand, when the other hand is holding their combine incompetence for not verifying the facts before roasting Shirley alive.
I too didn’t see the Gorilla the first time I saw this video a few years ago and didn’t notice the curtain change this time. Not sure if this would be legal or acceptable, but The Guardian should offer to post it’s advertisers on the blogs that repost their stories. Pass through ads for more exposure.
D. Ellsberg is very clear that he assumed he must be breaking some law when he released The Pentagon Papers and was waiting for retribution, but later found out –
“…I didn’t understand that we don’t have an official secrets act in this country, criminalizing the disclosure of classified information, except for certain narrow forms of information which are not involved in either The Pentagon Papers or in these cases. Communications intelligence, nuclear weapons data, the identities of covert agents like Valerie Plame who was disclosed by the White House. Those things are subject to law. The classification system, as a whole, is an administration system that does not have legal force in this country. We’re almost alone among countries in that.”
Japanese and other Asian cultures regard honor above all else and committing suicide due to the lack of honor is common place in these cultures today.
“Suicide has never been criminalized in Japan. Japanese society's attitude toward suicide has been termed "tolerant," and on many occasions a suicide is seen as a morally responsible action.”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide_in_Japan
Cyber bullying laws are not the answer, Trolling laws are not the answer. This guy did nothing more than exploit a weakness, which happens everyday, all day long. People are going to put themselves out there, some with positive and some with negative results. You can’t legislate against people “being mean and nasty” to others.
As the world’s economies worsen over the next 10 years due to excessive debt, I would argue that more people will be investigating suicide. I predict the EU countries will have an upswing in suicides as they are forced to change their way of life. This single guy is just the tip of the iceberg and as more people in the US and EU lose their houses and futures, there will be more people like this guy who will come out of the woodwork.
Bureau of Labor Statistics news release on Jan 22, 2010 states that there are currently more unionized public sector workers now than private union workers.
http://www.bls.gov/news.release/pdf/union2.pdf
Is this because the world economy is shipping labor jobs away from America or is the US government growing too big? I would suspect a combination of the two.
The AFL-CIO along with the AFSCME and AFGE are constantly lobbing and using collective bargaining to increase wages and benefits at the taxpayers expense. BLS report - In 2009, among full-time wage and salary workers, union members had median usual weekly earnings
of $908, while those who were not represented by unions had median weekly earnings of $710. (See table 2)
* In Oregon, public employee unions are funding ballot initiatives to raise personal income and business taxes in order to protect gold-plated medical benefits from state spending reductions.
The scary part is the increasing number of people who are reliant on the US government for their livelihood and healthcare either through employment or entitlement programs. Europe is about to have the largest restructuring of their European Union ever and it will have decades of blowback. The riots in Greece are the tip of the iceberg for the EU and the financial insecurity it will create will hinder our private economy. With the US headed in the same direction, as the Baby-boomers come of age, we are all about to have the worst financial hangover ever, all compounded by our risk adverse unionized government.
Are you going to volunteer to stand up in front of those people and tell them they can’t have their Medicare? Neither are the politicians.
The point is that the WP does not understand the paradigm has shifted. It does not matter when a weekly print edition is printed, the readers are now reading 24/7/365.
All news organization that want to survive should be embracing an online strategy. It is clear that the old, broken, outdated business models that are preventing progress will go the way of the buggy whip industry because even when the new is attempted, it is done so with contempt and neglected, as in this case.
“If you want to make minor, incremental changes and improvements, work on practices, behavior or attitude. But if you want to make significant, quantum improvement, work on paradigms.”
- Stephen R. Covey - The 8th Habit: From Effectiveness to Greatness
How does the nucleus know that the electron is there? Do they have a common purpose? The electron needs something to orbit around, the nucleus needs something to attract. KAPOWW!
I never said these Acro-Unions are in violation of the 1st Amendment, they just hate the concept of free speech so much so they will sue at the drop of a hat to prevent the truth from being spoken. They use heavy handed tactics that knock their members into line and fine, penalize, threaten and fire those that don’t play by their rules.
This destroys the freedom to converse with liberty, which has nothing to do with the law.
