Well it has been reported that SOPA and PIPA are now official election topics. They will be asking voters their view and who knows if these parties will take sides.
You may care to note that the large majority of the Senators who switched sides yesterday were Republicans. Only a few Democrats did.
Re: Such a big story it merited 2 minutes on the news!
You should see CNN's reporting. Not only do they clearly spell out that their owners are PIPA/SOPA supports but then they go crazy and say if these bills pass hackers will release people'x "worst nightmare". Say what???
They must win my award for the worst reporting on this subject ever done that barely scratched the surface of what happened. The wonders of biased reporting.
That was a nice read but he is right when the MPAA and RIAA have recently pumped their highest lobbying funding ever into Congress to try and ensure these bills pass.
Sure enough early on they were headed for a quick pass and we can thank Senator Ron Wyden for delaying PIPA until now which has allowed our opposition to grow to huge numbers.
The 24th certainly is the key date when if the cloture vote is successful then PIPA is soon to pass in some form and SOPA would soon strike back. Well we have done the best we can today so let us hope the cloture vote fails and PIPA and SOPA are doomed. Then maybe we can all gather around the fire and discuss OPEN.
Well this is sure a disappointment. The Public Domain gets raped and the rapist's name is "copyright". This only goes to prove my point that the Public Domain is only treated like left-over trash next to copyright.
I would not be too sad about this. The World is always at its darkest before the dawn breaks. Then the World is certainly changing and what is best for the public will no longer be ignored next to what makes the most profit.
So not only is this rats fleeing a sinking ship but they now turn on each other in the process.
Democracy in action indeed when now millions around the world wake up to a topic that the main news stations have barely covered. Then in their upset and annoyance they are overloading the US Government's communication systems.
I hear a fire that burns and burns and burns with the voice of freedom.
The MPAA and Lamar Smith have done it this time. Let us keep in mind who are the biggest liars around with their propaganda economics and much more.
Wikipedia is already blacked out I see. This was done by the vote of the users where over 99% agreed.
First they come for the infringing sites. You do nothing because they infringe.
Then they come for sites like DaJaz1 and OnSmash. They must be bad you think and do nothing.
Then they come for site that annoy them. Again you do nothing.
Then they come for you but... No one is left to help you.
One thing you can say about Lamar Smith is that he sure works hard to try and obtain his RIAA/MPAA lobbying bonus.
Any politician who votes for SOPA would be one step away from ruining their political career. The Internet does not forgive or forget those who want to harm it.
This is good news with Google joining this protest.
It is a shame that Twitter is clueless. They won't disrupt their service for just one of many bills they say. A large change from when they played a large part in this Arab Spring and got censored themselves.
I have also heard smaller sites saying well not many people come there so they won't make much difference. They are wrong on that one when I for one noticed their choice even if I was not a member.
