Actually, there could be a very good Constitutionally based lawsuit that executive agreement are unconstitutional, considering that the Constitution says that all international agreements have to come in treaty form and be ratified by Congress.
There is no 'half-way' mark here, and these executive agreements are asking for a constitutional beatdown as soon as someone has the balls to challenge them.
ACTA is looking more and more like a 'dead bill' and I'm really getting tired of all this secrecy around this agreement and the negotiations on said agreement.
It is a founding part of democracy that NO LAWS SHALL BE MADE IN SECRET! I.E. that every law from first draft to final version has to be totally public so that the public can chime in on the bill and tell their REPRESENTATIVES (key word there!) what they agree with in the bill and what they do not.
Actually, no, it doesn't have 'exceptions'. Those 'exceptions' are unconstitutional in and of themselves because there are nowhere in the Constitution.
The Freedom of Speech will NOT BE ABRIDGED is a blunt, no exceptions statement!
Now, if you are not giving someone's entire statement or the entirity of circumstances, that falls under SLANDER.
Hate speech is allowed by the Constitution, contrary to popular belief. I may not like it but it is allowed as long as you are not calling for physical violence against another person in regards to your hate speech.
No, they aren't. Paper and toilet paper are respectively, Egyptian and American inventions. The latter created by Americans for better cleanliness in the 1800's.
Agreed absolutely. With all due respect to troopleader, the Boy Scouts have morphed into an organization that is about pushing conservative 'morality' (actually, conservatives personal likes and dislikes that they should not be pushing on other people and definitely not brainwashing children into adhering to them) and about pushing conservative religious values on people.
Personally, I was a Boy Scout for many years.... I got seriously tired of them when I started being harassed because I was honest about being an Atheist and not adhering to religious morality, but only my own 5 "Rules of Morality".
The Boy Scouts are an organization that insists on living in the past, where homosexuality is 'deviant', where heterosexuality outside of marriage is 'wrong', etc. etc. etc.
I've told everyone I meet to NOT allow their childrren to join the Boy Scouts and instead join the numerous other organizations that do not rely on discrimination and denial of progress, such as the Boy's and Girl's Clubs.
Ed C., I agree totally. Most of these corporations are NOT profiting on their own labors, but on the labors of the people working for the company, who are underpaid/overworked/etc. etc. etc.
How do we keep that from happening, those last things? With STRICT AND STERN regulation, including a strong/HIGH minimum wage that people can live on and....... (shivers)..... PRICE CONTROLS IN SOME CASES!
Interval, they are NOT mis-characterizing at all. They are using your own statements against you. When it is YOUR OWN STATEMENTS that people are using? There can be no 'mis-characterization'.
There can be manipulation of statements, but if your ENTIRE STATEMENTS are parsed earlier in the posting........ OOPS! You just lost your standing leg and up to your chest as well.
In a lot of cases, it does. They ignore regulations, they ignore safety procedures, they illegitimately fire people solely because they might move up a pay bracket.... need I keep going on, Interval?
I'll be blunt here: you sound like a PAID CORPORATE POSTER!
I agree with you on this point. Labor unions should NOT be allowed to donate to anyone as if they are an individual. Now, all the people in the Union voting on it and donating to a person as a whole?
Agreed. The fact is that deregulation and the outlawing of punitive tariffs are the reason why we are having problems today.
We should have NEVER signed NAFTA, CAFTA, etc. and reserved our right to BREAK those agreements if the other countries were not adhering to their obligations under those laws/treaties.
Does that happen in LOWER COURTS where elections are held? Hell no, so it wouldn't be the case for Supreme Court justices, who should be elected once every 6 years just like Senators.
The fact is that it is no harder to make an oversized coffin than a regular coffin. You just increase the dimensions of the coffin and build to those bigger dimensions.
The local store I work at never paid any attention to this. They had music blasting all the time and basically told anyone from the RIAA who came in to complain to go stick it where the sun don't shine.
The RIAA didn't want to challenge the local store because, even though it is a family owned business? The family in question are MULTI-MILLIONAIRES who have enough money to challenge these things in court.
Well, considering that even I have had a hard time understanding the difference between the two.... I can understand the people in the media not being able to understand the difference.
There comes a time where something is so outrageous, that you have to say that the cops should have KNOWN that they were applying a law wrongfully.... this counts!
When that happens, the COPS should be blamed for bringing the charges in question.

Communism? I don't know if that would work well or not, considering that no country in the entire WORLD has been a true communist nation.
Yes, China, Cuba, Russia, etc..... not communist nations.... ELITIST nations where all people are NOT equal and do not get the same things.
