Re: OR could be Deliberate Incompetence! To avoid regulation.
Or, you know, we could go back in time decades because of ignorance you are suggesting to be applied and companies simply shut down or devolve into something way less useful to avoid liability.
When we are talking about policing sites corporations are incompetent. You are incompetent. I am incompetent. I don't want you deciding what's good or not as much as you don't want me deciding what's good or not because we clearly disagree.
Instead of trying to regulating what can't be solved like that we should start investing in better educating newer generations at school. You know, check for references, exercise healthy cynicism, use empathy and tolerance with those different than you etc etc.
Don't forget that search engine for legal alternatives. Oh wait.
Make licensing easier and universal (as in, everybody pays the same price for the content if they are willing to provide it in their platforms). This will bring tons of money to these morons and a ton of value to consumers as well. Clearly the content industry can't do it right by themselves.
A solution would be not to allow any political ads so nobody would be harmed?
Or just leave it alone and don't try to interfere?
And maybe make political advertisement forbidden and let the candidates build their voting base by actually presenting their plans and creating forums for discussion where people participate actively instead of being fed bullshit?
No seriously, I'm not sure how to address the current lack of communications channels between peoples in different political spectrum but we should be discussing this. The polarization, division will inevitably end in disaster for everybody.
Oh omniscient, stupendously wise master of the universe, you have enlightened me and convinced me of my foolish ways! Feel free to go sodomize yourself with a retractable baton, your task here is done!
Re: Re: Re: ??? If your main goal is "fair use", then NOT a "creator"!
Historically it has been used for bad only so yes, it is an attack. It could be fixed? Maybe. But it has been an attack since it was about fabric patterns.
Re: YES, "someone posted some jokey text"; YOUR only purpose is to
Yes and we should be mocking WIPO very hard because they are willing to embrace contribution from pro-copyright morons and block opposing views (even if some may be moronic as well which I don't believe to be the case of the Pirate Parties generally speaking). A process that only listens to one side should be discredited yes.
Re: Someone didn't read #45 on the Evil Overlord list...
When you are about to lose your cash cow hard you tend to follow those 5 steps: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.
I'd say they were in denial at that time. Maybe anger as in "How the fck are these damn millenials not procreating yet? No, it's still ok, it won't be a widespread problem."
Some are now in the bargaining stage, trying to offer their own crappy service and asking "pretty please!" if people won't give them money while at the same time trying to retain past control. I'd replace depression with panic here (these 5 stages are for grief). There are a few folks that are starting to panic. These are actually fairly advanced and may actually live to see the end of this process if they reach acceptance and adapt or partner with stuff like Netflix. Nobody has reached that acceptance stage as far as I can understand.
Agreed. As you said, it's just fishing expeditions. NSL should be forbidden. Actually, they are. But the executive couldn't care less about the Constitution.
Copyright is just one more face of current society that concentrates power and wealth in the hands of privileged few. Good to see artists joining other parts of the society in trying to disrupt this perverse status quo.
Re: ??? If your main goal is "fair use", then NOT a "creator"!
Creativity thrives on fair use since humans sketched cave walls. Copyright itself is already an attack on arts and science that fair use tries to balance.
You are a complete and utter moron that couldn't care less about artists.
Sadly, as far as I could grasp there is a lot of good and some of the bad is actually goodwill gone bad. Companies abused their free reign so much that now we are swinging towards the other extreme. I do hope the GDPR is revised as soon as possible to polish what's good and rebuild what's bad but I generally think that some regulation is going to be needed. The industry can't help screwing things up.
Barely. They can impose unforgiving data caps and exempt their own services. So they have to try just a tiny little bit.
Still, I have this feeling that if I hired Naruto (the monkey) to handle customer service it would do a better job than those telcos. Providing PETA didn't sue on behalf of the monkey.
I'd be very surprised if we find out he read it. But I'd be even more surprised if he acknowledges his error and scraps the plans. I'm not judging him specifically but when someone that much powerful and wealthy they tend to get disconnected from reality of most of the population and to think they are infallible.
I'm hoping Musk is better than that because I do like how he is spearheading many awesome efforts.
