We thank you (as a society) for greatly contributing to our culture. The Far Side cartoons have always had a shortcut to my funny bone for the last few decades. When I was teaching college (in grad school) I would end every lecture on one. With that said, we have stood by our part of the bargain. We have given you (and your publishers) a monopoly on distribution, now we ask that you give back to the public domain of culture from which you borrowed to create the cartoons in the first place.

The internet is nothing more than a gateway into people's minds and emotions - to the point they are willing to tell it to others.
Before the internet, people might post the comic in their cube, on a window or a door.
Now they just do it online. It's not really any different than personal use in the past. It's just more noticeable now.
Now and in the past, would they even seek to control the situation if a person posts a comic strip on their cube on on the fridge?
Now, I'm sure that there are cynical people out there who will mock all of this as just a publicity stunt. And, to some extent, it is a publicity stunt, but it's an incredibly effective one.
Even if it was - it sounds like he helped out the people of his city a lot - and that's what counts.
Would have been best to run a marketing ad about how they came up with the concept. Now, companies will just do as above - rename the class. And Mad Dogg will get no credit, for the big nothing they did, lol.
If they feel the need to 'hide' so badly that the fire employees over videos - what does it say about them?
Many companies are Proud of how they operate and would have no issues with full disclosure to the public.
Obviously; this is NOT the case with the publicly FUNDED TSA.
Just one more reason to not fly is all.
And I think it's funny all of you going on about 'security' and how they need to be 'careful' of the information. Don't you think the REAL terrorists, have people on the inside and have long since known this all? And while we worry about air travel, they are - no doubt - doing something much different. Why would they bother with where the government is expecting it and obviously going overboard on 'security'.
They would want to concentrate on areas you don't hear about on a friggin' DAILY basis... simple logic. Too bad government has no concept of such things.
More like the Nazi App, TBH. Funny how everything that's being used to yank away freedoms and make us more like a tyranny is called 'patriot' - like the 'patriot act' - that any real Patriot would be appalled at.
What if in both of the above cases; they clearly showed corruption - would the person leaking them be jailed?
Doubt it.
It seems little are really related to 'national security' - but most have a very direct relationship on the personal security of job and positions held within government.
Freakin' tards - there would be a *line* of potentially rich nerds to date this girl.
My wife likes Star Wars, Video Gaming, and Star Trek even.
We have a wonderful relationship!
But I'd guess the 'other students' who felt they needed to prop up their own egos by bashing the girl, will be those ones you read about in the news later on, in horrid divorces, drunken violence, and such.. But hey - they are 'cool' unlike us nerds, lolz.
I try to true to my faith and not look down or take pleasure in the demise of others. But.. I couldn't help feel pity and victory at the same time as I drove my SUV through a drive-in pony keg and looked face to face with one of the brats who gave me a hard time in high school.
Looks like Wikileaks really got some panties of the corrupt in a bind.
Too bad I had to cancel my PayPal and Amazon accounts out of principle, but that's ok - there's more than one place on the web that does those services!
In BOTH cases, you have to REQUEST data from them. Be it electronic or in the form of a DVD or other disc. That's not broadcasting.
"Broadcast" the word is defined as:
–verb (used with object)
1. to transmit (programs) from a radio or television station.
2. to speak, perform, sponsor, or present on a radio or television program: The President will broadcast his message on all stations tonight.
3. to cast or scatter abroad over an area, as seed in sowing.
4. to spread widely; disseminate: She broadcast the good news all over town.
5. to indicate unwittingly to another (one's next action); telegraph: He broadcast his punch and the other man was able to parry it.
In all cases *Broadcast* heavily implies that something is 'spread around' from the source, there's no need to request anything.
In the case of Google, you must FIRST send a DNS REQUEST to find one of their servers, then you REQUEST an HTTP page, it then REPLIES with the content YOU HAVE REQUESTED, that is NOT broadcasting, plan and simple.
NetFLix is the same, you must REQUEST a DVD or Movie from them, they do not 'Broadcast'.
Plus, if this were to apply to Google, it would have to apply to ALL web pages, including those of other Governments, Charitable Organizations, and anyone with a Web Page - that is not practical or feasible.
You can also buy DVD's from Amazon - are they subject too?

So much for freedom - it was a good idea, but greedy, power hungry spoiled brat politicians have decided it's not in our best interests.
Back to the dark ages, it seems.
Maybe they should just start burning people at the stake again in the UK and build a new gallows. Heck, maybe they could outsource it to China even!

Eventually, at the rate we are going, soon you'll need protection from the Government - who will do that?
Makes you wonder how this country got past 200+ years without government searching, groping, and tasering us all...

Well, once or twice I've peeked at them, but never really bothered much.
Does this mean that the movie industry will sell us 'abridged' DVD's for cheaper now? I'd probably buy more movies if they were cheaper.
Of course, this in no way lessens the value of used DVD's, lol
