Already happened. They used their super-special YouTube anti-bogus-DMCA button and got their content restored within less than 24 hours (technically making YouTube violate the law, but well, high-court/low-court, you know how it goes).
I remember Hotmail... it had a big entry in their FAQ about why their page didn't update automatically when you received new mail (or checked without hitting "reload"). It pretty much said "yeah... about that, we don't know how to do that."
I know! I've repeatedly told the pizza delivery guy to stop trespassing on my front yard property, but then he threatened me with stopping deliveries to my front door altogether! Tyat's censorship I tell ya!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Hey, it is almost like a discussion now
The problem with that argument is that you can't make people feel really really bad about stealing something if they aren't actually stealing, but copying. So we conflate theft and infringement to be able to make such emotionally charged argument and then deny all research and studies to the contrary and label them "bogus".
Interesting... so you admit the giant recording industries have been asleep all this time? Maybe, if they have awoken, it's time they start noticing how reality works and try to adapt accordingly and begin making money instead of just closing their eyes and going back to sleep.
Just a clarification: sometimes this can be used for emphasis.
In this case, they're being used as a "counter" to all the evidence. Beware of anybody who says "piracy is theft, plain and simple" and then don't even bother to bring up a reason or try to debunk all the research indicating exactly the contrary.
Same as saying, "Oh yeah? You're wrong!" instead of "you're wrong, because..."
"Make no mistake", "plain and simple", those are the talking points most use when none of the evidence backs it up. "Short skirts are wrong, plain and simple", "make no mistake, home tapes are like the Boston strangler".
"Make no mistake": your research is wrong, and you are wrong.
"Plain and simple": because I say so.
