On a final note, those who may post here who practice law may appreciate that Mozilla's counsel may have exposed himself to problems under the rules of practice that govern those who are members of the bar. If his client wants to stand on a soap box so be it. But as counsel this was a poor move.
I'd suggest that the counsel to DHS in recent times is probably poorer...
And if you're on a plane currently being threatened by by terrorists, that gets hit by an asteroid, you really gotta wonder if someone has it in for you...
It would seem fair that those people that "aggregate" other peoples work should compensate those people that created the work in the first place.
Then doesn't it also then seem fair that those creating the news should be paid by those reporting on it?
If the aggregators are driving more traffic the way of the newpapers, how can that be bad? I think tha they just need to find a better way of monetising that.
One option for second hand sales of physical media that I can think if is, advertise the license as free, but you just happen to be charging $80/$4000/whatever for the physical media itself.
I really enjoyed Modern Family, and was planning on buying it when it was released on DVD. No more.
Of course I realise that the masses would have no idea who this guy is, and it'll still probably still sell really well, but, I just can't bring myself to.
Re: Re: Re: But you just said that it's okay for you to give away the Beatles' music, because you're not charging for it. So why can't I do that with your copyrighted material?
Better pull up your socks, you hypocrisy is showing...
Re: I download your music, and burn a new CD, to replace the broken one. Do you think this should be allowed?
OK, so I buy your CD, then back it up to my music server (I do have the right to create a backup, correct?). I put the CD in storage. It remains there for some time, then some accident occurs, and the CD breaks. What, should I go out and purchase a new copy of the CD, deleting the backup until such time as I've got a new copy? I still have the (admittedly damaged) CD to prove that I bought and own it...

Can't wait to see what Samsung comes back at them with - I can't believe that they wouldn't have something.
I'm guessing that the iPhone 5 wont be very innovative if this is the tact that Apple are taking now.
