I completely agree. She never once apologized for her actions or came close to admitting she was wrong. She only apologized to those that this affected because of other "horrible people" I believe, in her mind she thinks she was still in the right and this is all the Internet's fault./div>
"Red Bull has acted appropriately in its prior dealings with Mr. Hogan, and will demonstrate this as the case progresses. Due to the lawsuit, we have decided to stop the project until this case has been resolved."/div>
Unlike several asian MMOs most use Free2Play MMOs sell items in game that do not give an advantage over another player when it comes to damage, healing, stats, etc. Most everything that you can pay for in-game is a cosmetic or ease of use type of item. New sparkling armor with no stat bonus over non-sparkling armor. More character slots, mounts, etc.
Very few US MMOs sell "power ups" things like "+42 Sword of Smiting" "Fire resist armor" etc.
This helps prevent the rich=powerful situation./div>
4) Except as provided for in §101.7, any unmanned free balloon that—
(i) Carries a payload package that weighs more than four pounds and has a weight/size ratio of more than three ounces per square inch on any surface of the package, determined by dividing the total weight in ounces of the payload package by the area in square inches of its smallest surface;
(ii) Carries a payload package that weighs more than six pounds;
(iii) Carries a payload, of two or more packages, that weighs more than 12 pounds; or (iv) Uses a rope or other device for suspension of the payload that requires an impact force of more than 50 pounds to separate the suspended payload from the balloon.
You don't have to avoid planes. What you have to do is send up a balloon and package that are under specific FAA weight requirements so that if a plane did intercept them there would be no damage./div>
Actually, there is an entire group of people dedicated to researching the colonization of Mars. Check out the MDRS program that has been running in Utah for a # of years./div>
2. I'd love to pay after I've seen the movie, think of that as straight up mass ratings. No more "This movie earned top dollar this weekend, so it's the best" It would be "This move has the highest average price paid after screening it really IS the best"/div>
From the terms of use: ZapTunes.com does not provide any downloads from its servers. ZapTunes.com just enables its members to find free or paid music available on the Internet. The Artists/Tracks displayed on the home page and other parts of the website are for promotional purposes only and may not be available for free or paid download.
ZapTunes.com has a database of websites that offer free and legal music downloads. Whenever a registered members looks for a song, ZapTunes searches for that song in the database, and if it finds a website offering a legal download of that song, it is displayed it to the user. If not, then ZapTunes looks for that song on Amazon, iTunes and various other paid to download websites, and displays the user their options. ZapTunes is not helping or promoting piracy in any way.
They don't offer downloads, they just point you out to the internet at large. They aren't a music service, they are a cleverly disguised search engine./div>
In several of the initial replies you see the theme; If you aren't viewing our ads, we don't want you, period.
They assume that this is a 1:1 loss, one reader not seeing their articles never returns. They've lost that one reader they didn't get any revenue from, not a big deal they think. However, what if that one guy is popular on Digg? Or has a Twitter account with 1,000 followers? Who knows how many people he could be funneling to their site and I imagine a large # of those viewers will NOT have an ad-blocker.
When you lose or limit your viewership, it affects more than just that view. I myself have shared links to ARS, I'm sure some of my friends checked them out. Had I been blocked they would have lost their views ALSO. For a site like ARS to not grasp this is beyond me.
2 things are in his favor:
1. The Amazon Kindle ToS specifically state they will not delete items, they clearly violated this.
2. They promote the fact that all your notes, annotations, bookmarks, etc are saved to their "cloud" and therefore safe and backed up. Obviously their actions violated one of the key selling points, that's almost like bait and switch.
"All your data is safe* in the cloud"
"*Except that date we willfully choose to delete"/div>
"less serious political coverage, less diversity of opinion, less minority and female ownership"
Aren't these the exact things the Internet empowers people with? Diversity, I would venture a guess that the average blogger comes from a much, much different background than your average beat reporter./div>
I read pretty much everything off the Techdirt RSS feed every day. I've got to say I'm a little disappointed with this one. As already mentioned the reason for WoW being offline is due to the company that contracted with Blizzard failing to perform as they wanted, therefor everything is being shifted over to a new company.
Also as mentioned a lot of the Chinese players re-rolled on Taiwanese servers and carried a long, in fact one guild even got a world first after their transfer.
And finally, the gold farming/selling occurs on US/EU servers, at least that's the largest market. The realms are all independent so you can't easily transfer gold/items from one realm to another and never from one region to another.
I'm willing to bet that on the back of the ticket he purchased there was a notice saying "By attending this event you agree not to record, photograph or otherwise detail the events" blah blah. If he's in a public place and records a game, no problem. Once you enter that stadium you are subject to their rules. I imagine that's why it got taken down./div>

Re: Craig's List
They clearly don't understand social media
They assume that this is a 1:1 loss, one reader not seeing their articles never returns. They've lost that one reader they didn't get any revenue from, not a big deal they think. However, what if that one guy is popular on Digg? Or has a Twitter account with 1,000 followers? Not up to your usual standards
Also as mentioned a lot of the Chinese players re-rolled on Taiwanese servers and carried a long, in fact one guild even got a world first after their transfer.

Here's a nice summation over on WoW.com
