Re: Pass.
Pardon me if I don't shed a tear for Wal-Mart's web-competition problems after they eliminate local consumer choices by undercutting smaller competitors using supply chain blackmail and workforce exploitation.
So you agree with the RIAA/MPAA when they dump on the internet/iTunes/Amazon when those services innovated to bring the cost of delivery and service down for customers and put all the old distribution channels and methods out of work?

Not bad
I see a lot of naysayers but being in Iowa and seeing a lot of nothing between small towns and the nearest Wal-Mart, you could see a small town where everybody knows each other not mind if they let their neighbors bring their goods for them. A smart implementation would be that you could make your own list of approved "deliverers" where you can pick people you trust.

Alongside that, having expended money on the one that you considered to have blown, the investment you made in it might have meant that you liked it a bit more.
You're right! I don't like lima beans but at the restaurant my $50 entree came with lima beans...so now I like lima beans. You must be in full brain hemorrhage mode.
If not you could have sold it on to someone else and you'd probably have told potential purchasers that it was brilliant.
As industry has no problem selling turds I could see how this would be a viable option for you to suggest.
Of course second hand sales should be as illegal as piracy because they also don't put any money directly to creators.

Too true! When I, or my kids, play Angry Birds I put it in airplane mode. The battery doesn't drain as much and I don't have to worry about clumsy kids clicking on the ad and taking them to the nether regions of the internet.

Re:
Wait! States rights? Was any of that mentioned? Nice try. Government is force. Our healthcare system is a mess. Now the federal government is forcing everybody to have insurance, dumping more money into an inefficient and broken system. If you don't get insurance, you get fined. If you don't pay your fines, you go to jail for tax evasion. That is what government force looks like.

I bet you are excited about all the minimum wage hike talk, ootb. But I suppose everyone (including your paymasters) would think the hike in you minimum wage trolling/shilling is unjustified...especially if they've ever read one of you comments.

Re:
We don't pay for cable or satellite either. Any time we get questioned by phone or in the mall about switching to cable/satellite with the question, "How much to you pay for cable/satellite right now?" When you tell them zero the salesperson is dumbfounded. "What price would you pay for cable?" the ask. "The same price I am paying now," I reply. "Well we can't do that....Have a good day."
I would agree that the 5% number must be low. I think they are conflating two types of people for misdirection. 5% of households fit their definition of "Zero-TV". They never mention the percentage that still have TVs but no cable/satellite subscription, nor how those are changing. But if the number of people who have actually chucked their TV has doubled in six years...I could see cord cutters also increasing. Plus the new consumers moving out on their own into college or post graduation are used to doing things without subscriptions. There will be a vacuum.

Re: Re:
I doubt even a communications company like AT&T or Comcast would want that either.
As somebody who works for an electric utility, comm companies don't give a flip about their lines until somebody gives 'em a call (and you could argue that, too). I've seen installations where they lay wire on the ground, up a tree, over a sidewalk, down a tree and to the house. They don't mind using trees as poles either. Not until the state utility board writes up a violation to the electric utility and we go barking up their tree (and threaten with fines) will they fix their cables.

Re: Malthus will be right eventually. And congestion WILL be a problem.
Artificial scarcity...that's what we're talking about. Plus, they don't give me free use of their equipment...if I bring my own phone and add it to their network with voice only (no bandwidth requirement) they aren't giving it to me for free.

Re: Re: Re: The bottom line
What we have here is EA using their position to monopolize content and force more money out of their customers.
You did say force. Otherwise, I wholeheartedly agree with your statements. You can look below this thread and there are many potential customers that have educated themselves on EA and decided to (rightly) give them the middle finger. Once EA has alienated the bulk of its customer base and starts failing to profit from its games then they will rethink their DRM strategy (or run to the government).

Re: The bottom line
Your anti-capitalism is showing. Nobody was 'forced' to pay any money. Just people willing to part with their hard earned cash knowing there were DRM requirements, albeit even worse than anticipated. I am sure there are those who didn't know but the pre-pay folks experiencing problems purchasing another...now that is a sucker. Hey, I agree that what EA is doing is abhorrent and should refund customers but I sorely doubt that with their history. Hopefully people who didn't know about EA's failure can now think twice before purchasing another title from them. But nobody was 'forced' to buy the game (twice).

Re: Re: Re: First Revolution to the second...
That was mainly my point. The US Constitution does not give them (Feds) any corporate regulatory powers...because it was not enumerated (lol) it fell to the States to regulate.

Apparently first hand sales don't put any money directly into the hands of creators, either.
