What that really means is...
What he really meant by this comment:
"We have changed the policy to say that there'll be repeated efforts made to resolve that without a pat-down."
Is that the TSA is going to continually pester the parents to force the child through the Nudo-scope. If the parents continually decline, they will eventually be forced to grope the child because the parents do not want naked pictures of their kids being taken.
Their policies are not changing. They are a government agency, nothing ever changes. They only get worse.
So still, the only options for parents are :1) have naked pictures of their kids taken. 2) have their child molested by an "authority figure" 3) be fined by the TSA and put on the no fly list.

Re: Consent laws
This brings up an interesting point. If you are in a 2-party consent state and you are a 3rd party filming a traffic stop, would it count as 2-party consent if you and the person being pulled over consented to the recording but the police did not?
Not that it really matters. It is still bogus to arrest people for filming the police.

Re: Re: Re:
That is true. However, these ICE seizures are nothing like that.
This is like you claiming someone took your car for a joyride and brought it back. Then because you don't really know who did it, you tell the police that it was the guy down the street you hate. So they go and take his car from him while he is sleeping.
They don't actually charge the guy or arrest him. They just take his car.
As someone who has been affected by the Facebook jerk patrol, I have to agree that giving this much control to one body is pretty scary.
Granted there are plenty of reason to remove some facebook accounts, groups and pages, but it seems that Facebook does so with no actual investigation. Once they get a complaint, that account is gone.
To add to the problem is Facebook's completely non-existent "customer service" they rarely respond and when they do, it is with the use of short form letters that do nothing to explain the situation.
This is turning into a rant, so I will end it now.

Re:
Considering the majority of people complaining about the TSA are doing so with full knowledge that it was created as a response to the 9/11 terrorist attack, I doubt an attack on a subway, train or bus will change their mind.

Re:
Actually I thought it was pretty apt. Copyright holders are drunk on their own self importance provided by the copyrights they hold. Alcoholics are drunk on alcohol.
Pretty much the same thing. The thing that is inebriating them is what they want more control over.
Microsoft makes the XBox 360. They have a proprietary memory card that holds 512 MB of data.
Datel thought this was not enough for gamers and made a Memory card that lets the user use their own SD cards so they could hold up to 64 GB of data.
Microsoft saw that this competed with their proprietary hard drive system making it obsolete and pushed a firmware update to block all 3rd party memory cards.
Microsoft saw a competing product that was better and cheaper than their proprietary solution. Instead of competing by introducing a better product, they abused the DMCA.
Your gun argument does not match the actual issue. A better gun analogy would be one mentioned above where a competing accessory maker makes a better scope than the gun maker and the gun maker changes the gun to make the scope useless.
You know, if Disney were to have subscribed to your line of reasoning here, they would not be the behemoth they currently are and could likely have gone bankrupt many years ago.
They made their name by ripping off other people's creativity. They have few movies that are 100% original. I would even go further and say that all their work is inspired or ripped off of someone else's creativity.
Instead of asking how much it costs the tax payers, I would like to pose the following question:
How much is this legislation likely to cost the overall economy?
This means, how many services will have to shutter their websites in order to prevent people from falling victim to this legislation? How many people will move out of the country to bypass these laws and take their skills elsewhere? How many people will be blocked from purchasing from online companies or earning an honest living using the internet as a result of these laws?
I want to see the governments of these nations try to quantify that.
The winners are those who adapt to changes in the market place. So far the Music industry as a whole as done a pretty decent job of adapting. Unfortunately, there have been many hold outs who refuse to adapt and kick and scream their way into their graves. We will see this happen once again with the internet.
Car sales are physical. If you steal my car, I am one car short. Which means I have to buy a new car. So for the auto industry, a stolen car means one more car sale.
If you pirate a song I own, I still have my copy and you have one. You do not actually steal my copy of the song.

A PC keyboard with a sonar sensor can tell if a person has walked away from it -- and sign out the user to prevent someone else from accessing the computer.
Meh. I just set my screen saver to 5 minutes with the requirement to enter my password to unlock. Works well enough.

I think you have it wrong. He is not saying that this woman should not have been on this road. He is saying that the clues were clear enough that if this woman wanted to use this road for pedestrian traffic, she should have been more careful.
I agree completely. I had been thinking of writing and trying to get something published for a few years now. I have a rough draft of a novel and have written a few short stories.
I took a look at the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America and what it took to become a member. They are exactly the same way as this group. You have to be paid by some gatekeepers. So I am looking elsewhere.
What is really funny is that if you write a novel and get paid $2000 by a qualified publishing house, you can be a member. Yet, if you write a novel, publish it yourself on the Kindle and make $200000, you can't be a member because you didn't go through their gatekeepers.
Sad.
