Think they'll need a bit more than a few bottles of champagne to get this lot to agree, i'd suggest pumping the aircon full of hashish...

They don't want to be exposed to people, they just want to be exposed to their money.
Which begs the immediate question, if I pay for something that disappears in two months, do I get my money back when the ink's gone?
Exactly, when you move from a world of scarcity to one of (practically) infinite abundancy it stops being a zero-sum game. Which means there are opportunities there for the taking.
They still make the best camera phones (key requirement for me) but things like this just highlight their increasing irrelevance in the smart-phone market. Likely to be followed by a similar situation in the feature-phone and basic-phone sectors as well.
Shame as they still seem to have some really good designers there but unfortunately they now appear to be a company run by the accounting department.
You know, this is such a predictable - almost word perfect - response that I can't tell if this is our usual loldiot or someone else doing a parody.

Attempt 2 as the comment page keeps failing to load (anyone else getting this or am I just lukcy?)
All this goes to show is that there are arseholes and idiots everywhere. The end result (unless they go down the free licensing route) will be that the consumer pays more for devices because of licensing costs for something that they funded* the research for in the first place.
I'm curious as to where the winners are in this scenario.
Yep, the UK version is out for review now as well. There's some horrid stuff in there. I read it last night and need to study it a bit more but it's a mess. I expect Mr Moody will be doing an update soon but I'll be sticking some analysis on my blog before to long.
I only have 25 internet points left (after being unable to point people to a working internet site on another thread) so I'm going to place them all on a combination of all three.
To whit, he'll quietly go away for a while, will then start making noises about being bullied and then, after the passing of a convenient law, will start all this shite again.
What odds will you give me?
I suspect similar things were said around the popularity of the electric guitar. And the acoustic guitar before that. Some folks probably decried the popularity of the pianoforte when compared to the harpsichord. Which was in itself probably seen as something of an overly complex machine when compared to the purity of a proper lutist...

Sorted now! Thanks folks. Turns out the chap who looked after these things for the label had been tidying up the files on his server and had inadvertently moved something he shouldn't.
Thanks for the heads up.
