Q: The end of paragraph 13 it gives examples of Napster, Gnutella, Freenet. Does not say Facebook, does it?
The line of questioning seems to be in error whereas the examples listed are for peer to peer networks, specific to the one item, not examples of all the banned forms of internet communications listed.
The issue I would say would be Hall's claim that the S.O. approved his usage of Facebook. Should have got that in writing. The accused never win a he said/she said with a cop.
You are looking at track the wrong way here. They tracked traffic of p2p and encrypted channels. Mike never stated they couldn't track that (Reading comprehension...it helps!). They can't track what the contents of the encrypted files are, though...and yes, Mike makes an assumption that the big increase in encrypted traffic is mostly due to file sharing going underground. Just like anonymous shill trolls say MOST of the content on MegaUpload is infringing without any evidence and only speculation. But, hey, Mike is making a conclusion from the facts. Doesn't mean he is correct...it is just an opinion blog, mind you.
So why is the content industry so worried about file locker sites? It is just a drop in the bucket, right? Why spend millions of dollars lobbying Congress to protect their monopolistic reign?
Ummm! You aren't expected to download a YouTube video. In the case of MegaUpload, the download is part of the payoff. This is giving ownership of a copy of a song/video/file for a little bit of ad revenue. If you want the content from YouTube you are expected to watch it over, and over, and over through the YouTube portal.
I searched all over LouisVuitton.com and cannot find this basketball for sale! Please help!!! Maybe I'll buy a counterfeit from the local Hyundai dealership. =]
Note also that he wasn't put in jail for the speeding ticket...so the logical progression is for a law that for anybody who is accused of committing a crime, traffic violation, code violation, etc. must be immediately strip searched...to stop the terrorists!
In the U.S. there are strict rules disallowing any possible profit from one's alleged or convicted crime(s). Profiting from one's notoriety from a crime is illegal in itself in many situations.
He should still be able to create an album or write a book...he just can't put it up for sale. Plus, the industry would claim he had billions in lost sales anyhow...a net loss.

It is called a speed limit not a mandatory driving speed. People don't have to drive 100mph...especially if you know your tires would fail. I know when I go 85mph I feel a little uneasy. For me I feel most comfortable driving between 75-80 mph. Some people are more comfortable driving at 55mph (that is why you still see some people on the interstate going that speed). What laws should punish is dangerous driving. I am sure one of the Andretti's could drive pretty well at 100mph.

Essentially...no different than an MPAA R rating
An R rating allows 17 and under to enter when accompanied with an adult. When I was in high school, as an "honor student" I got to go to see Schindler's List (rated R)in the theater with a signed permission slip. Granted the permission slip was provided by the school in that case and this one provided by the theater. Also, it is in the theater's interest to allow as many as possible to see movies in their theater. The form looks like there is absolutely no verification process (easily forged). Would they accept homemade permission slips for any R rated movie? Just more reinforcement that the rating system is a joke.

Citizens and Governments
I watched part of one of those travel shows on the PBS channel with a guy traveling in Iran. They had a clip of him chatting with a group of students, or young people. He asked about what they think of Americans (himself being one). She said in essence, we are all people and are all friends and neighbors...it is only our governments that cannot get along.

Re: Id like to keep my job
I think everybody would like to keep their job...the forecast is that there will still be some jobs left in your line of work. Too bad being in the union doesn't allow you to rise above the rest and become in higher demand (and higher pay) ensuring your continued (or improved) level of employ.
Regardless, has there been threatening from the studios that they are cutting workers/pay/benefits? Do they tell you it is piracy? Do they tell you that they are making more money now then they ever have before?

Re:
WHAT?! You're splitting hairs here, really. At the end of the paragraph the MP states they are to have another hearing so they can continue to gather perspectives and information from the public. Somehow the committee is gathering. Maybe they just gave an invite and remotely monitored the public gathering by some well placed cctv cameras and microphones...yeah, that seems more likely. You are so desperate it hurts puppies.

Parliamentary committees are made up of members of said parliament. So this was BY the parliament.
and not TOO the Parrliament
Are you saying not the Parrliament(sic), also? Too?
