What if he were watching the dvd copy on his laptop, which also held the ripped copy, then there is the memory cache, then his laptop is connected to the internet where on many sites there is a copy of the same movie? It is like he practically has another copy, amirite? That's a paddlin'.

Re:
A joke right? Regulations put in place forcing banks to give loans to deadbeats is what led to the housing crisis, which kicked off this economic meltdown. Government imposed risk, all whisked away with taxpayer money...the fat cats and politicians all made out fine, whilst the rest of us are none the better or worse off.

Re: Decline started
I suspect the whole "starving journalist" is just the industry executive's equivalent siren call as RIAA's "think of the artist." All they want is to make sure they continue to reap the rewards of others work whilst doing little themselves. Claiming that "art" or "journalism" is going away is farcical. The talent is out there, the problem is that the executives just can't figure out to monetize the talent.

TechDirt never claimed to be a news site. But, at least his posts link to reputable news sources, which CNN and ABCNews (or any of the majors) are rarely.

Re:
So why don't you stop sending all your lobbyists to "consult" with the politicians, everyday, on every issue? I didn't elect any lobbyists. Why do they get to directly influence legislation? Oh, I see, we don't have enough $ so we can't do it. Just you guys. (nods assuredly)

Re:
The whole post is about how ridiculous Fox's RtB offering is in this context! Seriously...what is the RtB for the customer? What advantage does the customer gain by going through the myriad of steps listed over googleing the movie, comparing prices, and ordering it from the cheapest website, all from wherever they happen to be at the time...not physically at the mural?

Re: the Problem is You!
If you can't find that same mind-expanding information on the internet then the problem is YOU! It is all still there, but now there is a lot more for what others consider "mind-expanding" and are willing to put up with the commercialization. The internet is a tool, if you use it wrong that is your problem.
