"MPEG-LA Follows Through On Its Promise To Go After Google For Daring To Offer Patent-Free Video"
MPEG-LA and companies like them (i.e. Micro$0ft, Etc) are one of the major roadblocks to American Innovation. Or any Innovation for that matter. I hate patent trolls. };P
"..White House Wants Advice On What's Blocking American Innovation"
White House Wants Advice On What's Blocking American Innovation? When was the last time they looked into the f**king mirror. They're right-winged patent law extremists. Blindly supporting a broken patent system, rife with abuse. And make it more expensive for US companies to export our jobs overseas. The Obama administration is a train-wreck already in progress. It just doesn't have the brains to realize it yet. };P
"..Politicians Against Pedestrians Listening To Headphones Or Texting"
If a pedestrian or cyclist wants to risk being nominated for The Darwin Awards, then that's their own personal choice. Me? I prefer music at a reasonable volume when cycling. Just be aware of your environment, that's all. So if any of this utter nonsense somehow becomes law, then this would be one of the few laws I would take great pleasure in breaking. ;P
"...Video Captured Her Text-And-Walking Into A Fountain"
Well, at least she was walking and not driving. And, yes.. She's still an idiot for doing so. She should be happy she didn't qualify for the Darwin Awards and quit making more of an ass of herself in public by sueing. We've all done stupid crap in public before. It's just that most of us had enough common sense to throw are hands up and move on.
"...Looks To Extend Patriot Act With Little Or No Debate"
It's a Republican congress. Of course, they're going to keep the patriot act (with a few extra poison-pills tucked smartly between the pages). What the hell, right? Democrats and Republicans rarely read any of the bills and acts introduced anyway. Especially the ones up for renewal. I would say: "Well, there goes are freedom and civil liberties again".. but we lost most of those during the Bush administration. }8P ....Long Live Wikileaks. ;)
"Expendables Producers Decide To Demand Cash From Fans Who Downloaded"
With such a dumbass title like "Expendables", I wouldn't download this movie even if the producers paid ME. And I sure as hell DON'T want to see the movie, anyway. };P
Someone once said that "(Con)gress is the opposite of (Pro)gress." And so far, without a doubt, the 2011 Congress is living up to that statement. With heads buried deeply in the sand as usual. We'll probably lose more of our Constitution, our Bill Of Rights. So when it comes to my freedom, my liberty.. My money is on WikiLeaks.
I have a simpler solution. To hell with the copyright Nazi cartels. Yes, of course, keep using public domain music material. And for the other stuff..well.. bit-torrent. It's the gift that just keeps on giving. Damn ASSCAP and others like the German Music Copyright Nazis. My message to them is "Profit Denied". Force them out of business by denying them the money they DON'T deserve. They should be taken out to the street and publicly shamed by the entire world community. };P
Re: You spelled intellectual pooperty wrong. (anonymous coward)
Yes. I agree as well. Pooperty is logically the proper spelling and pronounciation when refering to IP. ;) I now refer all those that disbelieve to, Stanford Professor and lawyer, Lawrence Lessig at (www.lessig.org). No, I'm not a spokes-person for Mr Lessig. But I do share his principal beliefs on IP/copyright law. I usually prefer "CopyLeft" in most respects. ;)
All patents and copyrights should follow the same path as CopyLeft and the GNU software licence. Share and share alike. Not as in free beer. But, free as in freedom and liberty. The current system only stifles innovation. }:P
They are Absolute Scum. If you ever needed to know what really happens when you combine Arrogance and Smugness, it's bank of america. To use apple's analogy.. "There's a fee for that." Long Live WikiLeaks! ;)
"..Amazon Removing More eBooks You 'Bought' From Archives"
If your books are not physical, and they have to be in digital format, forget amazon and others like them. Buy the books from a third party source and send them to your laptop or netbook. Of course, if you've already paid for a book and they take it away from you without a refund, I recommend the bit-torrent network. The book publisher and amazon might lose out on some extra money.. but then so did you when amazon stole your copy of the book. The overall moral of this? Don't buy a proprietary device that locks you in to a single proprietary service (i.e. amazon, apple, etc).
"MPAA... they got the law put in place by lying to Congress."
I agree. So, boys and girls.. This holiday season, invite the usual family and friends over, power on the DVD player/media center and provide a good ol'fashioned performance by sharing a movie for all to see. Feel free to provide a copy for anyone who requests one. Why? Because we have no moral incentive to giva a crap what the mpaa mafiaa thinks. }:P
"Senator Lieberman Says NY Times Should Be Investigated For Publishing Wikileaks Documents"
Er, Uh... "Pentagon Papers" anyone? History repeating itself. AGAIN. NY Times will come out on top as usual. I hate Lieberman. His over-due shelf-life is really creating a stench. ]:P
"Visa and MasterCard and their willingness to cave to government pressure.
They "cave" because they don't want their overpaid lobbyists losing face on the Senate or House floor. Further corrupting an already corrupt US politition is their main goal. With the right cash incintive, you can easily buy a Senator or House Rep these days. };P
"MasterCard blocking any payments working with Wikileaks"
I don't use credit cards because of the "fine print" games they like to play with customers.. Though, my eventual "cash" donations to Wikileaks will work just fine. Even better.. Mastercard, Visa, or PayPal won't make a dime from my Wikileaks donations. My gain, their loss.
Hillary Clinton: On Internet Freedoms And Censorship
She's just as TWO-FACED as the rest of the US political careerists' in Washington. Now I know why Bill cheated on her. Of course, her actions now prove that LYING and DECEPTION run in the familly. ;P
"Defense Department Blocking Any Website With Wikileaks In The Title"
First off.. A large portion of the US government doesn't really have the Constitution in mind anyway. Having said that.. now use general logic. It's not suprising that US government entities would block or be resentfull of anything relating to WikiLeaks. Personally, I morally support and congratulate(2 thumbs up), Wikileaks for what they are doing. It's high time that democracy was returned back to the people. I'm already tired of the US secret police, facists'. I praise Wikileaks for its efforts. I'd donate some cash, but unfortunately, I happen to live in the US's current third world economic system. }:P
