Here in the real world we own things, property, etc. so that when we are taxed on it we have paperwork to prove it's ours. So that when we sell it we have proof of ownership. Etc...
But in the virtual world unless you are paying taxes or planning on selling your virtual items, proof that it is indeed yours shouldn't be necessary. Selling land was just a money maker for 2Life. The people who actually bought it should have known better. It's just like buying gold in other virtual world games, the owner of the game/eula can take it from you at will based on licensing etc. Your just the idiot who paid real world $ for virtual world objects that aren't anything more then 1's and 0's.
Software developers update their EULA's all the time. 98.7% of us never read them and just accept. At any point they can just slip in the adjustment clause that says anything and everything your character owns is not actually his but property of the gaming company. http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/2010/04/15/gamestation-we-own-your-soul/1
No budget cuts may not have resulted in him having the job he does. But less money means less resources. If there are fewer resources around to actually care for it means you can be a slacker and do your job half-assed and still keep your job.
Plus budget cuts = "if you want to keep your job you will take a pay cut" or "there's the door". What better way to subsidize your paycut then to take it out of the pockets of the kids who (are supposed to) see him as a mentor.
Somebody needs to make a how to manual to patent/copyright anything and everything. That way we can go around for the rest of our lives stepping on everybody elses 'property' and we can sue each other and send C&D letters all over the place... at least the USPS would be happy.
If they are allowed to 'regulate' the internet they won't need half the groups that occupy any given T.L.A. secret agencies. Just make a new massive agency and 'regulate' our lives, that will make everything better and under (their) control. Then they could start taking over as the only ISP in the US (for starters). At least that way I won't have to deal with Comcast anymore. Remember monopolization is only illegal when you're not the government.
After all that happens ... the possibilities are endless to keep the government moving towards absolute control of everything in your life!!!!
I think they need to actually understand traffic flow and implament better timing for street lights so that traffic flows instead of bunches from light to light.
Then once that ACTUALLY works then you can implament red light cameras for SAFETY.
This is what happens when the government has to cut budgets... they ALWAYS target education first. Not only are the students getting screwed with a sub par education now they have to deal with underpaid/underskilled teachers and faculty who are total BS!
Why are they still trying? Why are they still wasting tax payers dollars across the board, not just in California?
1) If you don't like your kids playing violent video games... BE A BETTER PARENT AND WATCH WHAT YOUR KIDS ARE PLAYING/BUYING/DOING!!!
2) If you sell games you better be carding people, just like bartenders have to. ESRB ratings were not made to look pretty.
3) Stop buying games for your 10yr old nephew when its rated T for TEEN!!!!
4) Violent games do not make people violent. Violent movies do not make people violent. Violent music does not make people violent. Violence is a response to unstable emotions which a person is responsible to themselves to control. This is a personal issue NOT a government law issue.
Since when did the US Government add cyber police the world to it's list of 'to-do's'?
We already have a government that is trillions of $ in the hole ... stop wasting money trying to fix things that aren't broken and start fixing things that are!!!
True, the smaller carriers are bringing in all the people who just want a home phone replacement... i.e. my parents. I'm so proud of them, land line free for 6yrs now! Plus phones for kids ... they don't need frills on their phone it will just get them in trouble.... like oh idk.. sexting... stupid kids.
True, but how long can the little carriers last, standing arpart when the big guys can come in and buy them or push into their core network area and provide proprietary service items like iPhone or Droid where as your little guy just has the typical Samsung or Motorla phone. When you're not guarenteed 3G coverage or you are paying higher prices because when you travel your not roaming but running on leased lines from the big carriers.
Between my wife and I we average over 300mb a month on our two iPhones. We use the unlimited data plan and I have every intention of using that open bandwidth because I am paying for it. Same thing for texting, unlimited and we text our thumbs off... she's better at it but we average over 1500 texts a month. Again, paying for it.... going to use as much as I can. On the other hand we use maybe 100min a month of our 1400min outside of our calling circle and in network calls. I'm slowly lowering the amount of minuets we have on our plan....not going to use it...not going to pay for it.
This is why I DON'T have a gym membership, I'd almost never use it, not to mention parking farther away in the parking lot, taking the stairs, and living on the third floor... why should I go to the gym. Excercise is free, I even got paid to do it when I was in the Army. Besides I have an equivelent gym at work and apartment... both are free!
If I'm going to pay for something, I'm going to use it to it's fullest extent, otherwise I'm not buying it. Then it's up to the seller to make it more marketable/reasonable to attract my purchase.
So will they ticket the car or the driver? People aren't always driving the car they own. So who gets the ticket? Why not just go to court saying it wasn't me in the car.
In the US they are starting to use tiny UAV aircraft to enforce time over distance speeding tickets, with a photo as proof. They can be easily beat in court with the argument, my car but not me. Same thing with red light cameras, my car yes, but not me. Unless of course your stupid enough to look at the camera because of the pre-flash and get a nice mug shot as you run the red light.
In overview of the whole issue, this is just another attempted fix to a system that doesn't need more fixes, it needs solutions, real...effective...solutions.
When you have to make a bigger umbrella to stop from getting rained on, obviously there is a problem with the rain not the umbrella.
So by delaying the release for streaming by 28 days you are hoping to accomplish what?
Cause I can get it (if I wanted to) before you even release it to DVD because video piracy is far from controlled.
So don't give us what we want, then make it take longer to give us what we want...what do you think we are going to do? We will go get what we want, when we want it...
I've had my blackberry sensor go red though it was never dropped or exposed to water. The phone never gave me issues but I would say that weather/humidity can definatly play a role in that sensors ability to be truthful or not.
As cool as Minority Report is as a movie and a concept... it was scripted! So of course there is going to be the line ... something something "hasn't been a murder in 12 years" something something....
Predicting is a dangerous road to travel down. Anybody see Paycheck? We wanted to predict the future and ended up creating a new future and wiped ourselves out because we were afraid of what we could do to each other...
It's not like the $9.99 was the only money spent to now have 1000's of copies of the CD. There are other monitary factors in play.
The neighborhood dropped $30k on the car but what about the machine? I mean how much did the CD-R advance because of its massive use in the 90's, mostly due to people making their own music, copying or backing up.
I mean if there was such a copying machine, the auto industry would have patented or copyrighted it so they can produce 1 model and then duplicate it for us to pay the full price for even though over the long run the price would drop.
