We the voters need much earlier primaries with a "none of the above" on the ballot - which must force the party to go and get a new slate of candidates - but we'd have to pass a law making it illegal to change your name to "none of the above".
As all we get now is "choose the least offensive from the following list" we really have damn little choice.
And this election is shaping up to be a barrel scraper...
Scenario #1: I have crapcast cable, connected to a dedicated computer (their set-top box), which connects to an HDMI monitor to show selected entertainment which is streamed to their dedicated computer over that cable. This is considered good and legal.
Scenario #2 I have crapcast cable, connected to my computer, which connects to an HDMI monitor to show entertainment which is streamed to my PC over that cable via a 3rd party service. This is considered bad and illegal.
Seems to me that I am still paying for a digital cable to deliver digital packets of information which I have paid to receive.
I hope they truly push "We aim to inspire individuals to make a personal commitment to the future of the UK creative industries and to the creation of music, film, games and other entertainment, which they love so much.”.
The result will not be what they expect; but it will work incredibly well. All these folks will be inspired to go out and do it ON THEIR OWN WITHOUT THE MIDDLEMEN.
Passing or not passing a bill has no relevance on the agencies version of "reality".
The agencies have already demonstrated that whatever law is written can be "interpreted" to mean what ever they want it to mean, and therefore let them do whatever it is they want to do.
A targeted law just means having to use the "not under this program" excuse.
They are going to monitor everything on everyone all the time. Let's check on where they are now:
Cell Location? Check. Who you call and who calls you? Check. Auto Location? - ALPRs everywhere. Check Friends? - facebook et. al. scraped and analyzed? Check email? all intercepted, stored, key-word analyzed. Check. Packages? Intercepted and "modified". Check Software Security? Weakened at the very source. Check. Software Vulnerability? #1 purchaser of day 0 exploits. Check. Where you work? IRS knows, they all know. Check How much you make? IRS knows, they all know. Check Whether or not you are a "valued citizen" ? (i.e. contribute the right amounts to the right candidates) Check.
One more law to work around? Check.
Time for us to secure everything we have and do. VPNs for all - free SSL certs are coming - use 'em. Phone encryption - get it.
They are forcing us to lock down and make them "go dark".
We have 2 million in profit to spend... we can either upgrade and expand our service offerings to our customers and get more customers and grow our business.... or we can just pay 1 million to a few politicians to tell everyone how wonderful we are and give ourselves bonuses with the other million.
I think I will start carrying $10,000 in monopoly money in my wallet and $20,000 locked in my RV safe and $50,000 in the freezer... "Here you go, officer"

where does this go?
1) Illegal to Photograph 2) Illegal to Describe it to someone (Hat Tip to NFL) 3) Illegal to remember what it looks like 4) Illegal to look at it without paying.
So, each of us will owe more than the GDP of the world to the Extortion Collection Agencies just for being able to walk around, drive, or go to work.
Then they will bitch that they can't collect from the blind...

Back to basics
There is nothing that says anyone must use a search engine. The underlying code for searching has been available for many many years - all the way back to SWISH and SWISH-E. Anyone can run their own web indexing engine, given a big enough drive farm to store the index. And with the price of drives these days, or using mega amounts of cloud storage (pun intended) - this becomes possible.
They will eventually have to make it illegal to search. And illegal to use the internet.
And the Phoenix of WWIV will rise from the ashes of the internet. Then what will they do? Outlaw modems?

I vote that we give her an award.
I believe that Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee has demonstrated far and above the fundamental requirements for winning this years "Cognitive Dissonance in Action" trophy.
