I'm from New Orleans. The krewes do make money on their club memberships. All the people seen on the floats paid money... and depending on which krewe, ALOT of money to be there. Each krewe is almost like a family, same families each year for the most part, past down generation to generation. It would be like someone starting a lil Masons club, or a lil american legionnaires. It's stealing the name of an organization that's been around for decades. (Side note: being from New Orleans, I've never heard of the krewe 'tit Rex)
So, how much did this "jury" get paid to vote on a middle class person owing more money than she will probably ever see in her life time short of winning a lottery? I understand that common sense isn't common, but 12, count them, TWELVE people agreed to this absurd amount. I'm calling bullsh$t on this. I think they were paid off or bribed in some fashion.
Well, i'm all against it! I have Tmobile right now and I have had At&T in the past. I choose Tmobile for their customer service. As soon as my contracts up, I'm bailing. I REFUSE to be a part of anything to do with AT&T. Not there home, wireless, internet, or tv service. That company is complete crap.
"The more I read on here the more convinced I become that the citizens of a country have zero chance against it's Government. Short of a revolt there's nothing we can do. The Govt. is far too corrupt and in far too deep with private interests for anything to change."
You are half correct. The Government is controlled my corporate America... To anyone that didn't HEAR ME...the GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICAN is CONTROLLED my the BIG BUSINESSES! Revolt against uncle Sam will do nothing, you want to make a change, attack the heart, attach big corporations in any and every way possible till this shit stops.
You're right, Americans are pushovers. Or, as I like to call them, sheep. Now, the thing about sheep is that they come in large numbers. My favorite t shirt for quite awhile use to be this one that said, "I fear stupid people in large numbers". If we could just find the right herder to point the sheep in the right direction, maybe we could get some change. Where's MLK when you need him?
Once again, all one has to do is ask who is making money, or who is loosing it/ not making it. In this case, people are openly making money and more than likely not paying an income tax on it. Don't forget the world we live in in the grand old U.S. of A. Your money is taxed when you earn it, taxed when you spend it, and taxed when you save it. Lovely, isn't it?
You know, it's almost safer to UPS something you would like to take with you on vacation if it's valuable than it is to check it with TSA. I think I would pay the extra price for a safer feeling of my belongings.... Too bad I cant UPS myself.
Unfortunately, Louisiana is a "right to work" state. You can be let go for any reason or no reason at any time. In this state, you can't sue your boss.
There was a time when artist (writers, musicians, painters etc), created their work not for monetary value, but for the pure purpose of creating art.
If you want another example of how money ruins the core of something, look not further than politics. No one should ever get into politics as a career move, they should do it to better help and serve the people.
I think the big problem every seems to have is that there is no DEFINITE money to be made by illegal downloads. I bet if they could attach advertising to it like Google does, they would make a fortune and be begging people to go download the works.
