Wired
Having just read the article in Wired (who wants to go all in with the iPad) I thought the Fake Steve Jobs Essay was a perfect response to publishers hoping to make money off micropayments and subscriptions. And why would we want all these apps for each publication, wouldn't we like one or two that bring it all together for us instead of managing twenty plus feeds? Sort of like iGoogle already does for me.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Well, given that tomorrow is "Meat Out" day
I am in favor of some of our rain forests being destroyed. Not all, but some to provide some use besides a mosquito habitat. And at least they are putting trees back up. If it was a mining effort then you would definitely be looking at scorched earth.

Ambiguity
current EU law does not clearly state the process for a valid takedown
A vague law allows for the broad brushstroke of prosecution. That way they can punish somebody if they can't get the real criminals.

Re: Re: Odd...
Maybe publishing companies have a little more faith in the authors to actually help promote their work. The more I hear musicians open their mouths when they are not singing reminds me what major idiots they can be.

No more than $500
"Shall be fined not more than $500 for every such offense."
You would hope that since the ruling makes a cap on the fine per item that reasonable fines can be assessed by the judge. He doesn't have to use $500 per printing he could use $0.0001 rendering the Solo cup lid instance to a more reasonable $2.1 million.

Re: Streaming and Warner...
Would any of you fools out there work for free? Of course not and neither should the Artists that produce the music that all of us so enjoy.
Some can make money off of a hobby...most people don't. They get jobs/careers that support themselves and then do their hobby on the side. If you're good enough at your hobby then maybe you can make money if other people find it valuable enough to pay for. What the entertainment industry hasn't figured out is that a lot of people don't think that the value of copies (distribution cost of essentially zero) of their 'art' is the same price the industry demands.

Media Corporations lose their monopoly
Well, now the media is mad that they lost their monopoly on corporate sponsored campaign advertising. Media corporations, controlling news, could continue to "influence" elections up to poll closing all because they are "journalists" with objectivity (spit). Otherwise, every corporation should start their own news org which could be exempt from the previous restrictions by McCain-Feingold.

Manipulated results
You could easily manipulate results by ensuring that the word lose is not on the test. I am certain it is the most (unintentionally) misspelled word on teh (intentional) internet. Seeing lose spelled loose is the bee in my bonnet. =)
