Re: Re: Re: Re: Re:
Without copyright, there might not be a "music industry", but there would be plenty of people playing music.
So what the people say is true: Without copyright, they would not make art. But there would still be art being made, just not by them.
There are plenty of artists who shun copyright (or enforcement thereof) that make a good living. I would think that any true artist wouldn't say, "I have this great idea but nobody will pay me for it so I won't create it." If it is a great idea then you can bet someone will invest in it. This would most likely increase the quality of the output...making a clear distinction between what is good and what is crap. What you are saying is that if you claim to be a great artist then you are entitled to get paid.
As an aside, I understand that getting rid of copyright would put a lot of middle men and lawyers out of work...but what is the downside?

Re: Re:
If terrorists were attempting to take out/control the BART system they would probably first simultaneously take out the officers before they got any comm out. Of course, they may just take out the repeaters...which are probably in the same room as the ones used by the police for their comm. So the best thing in a crisis is to limit the number of comm channels getting out? That makes sense.

It is not illegal to have an open Wi-Fi...yet! If somebody uses the network to commit a crime then that person is the criminal...not the person who owns the network. If one of the customers at one of these time-share resorts or hotels decided to bring a prostitute back to the room is the owner guilty of prostitution.

As for the dead guy, have you considered that he infringed before he was dead?
I'm sure he might have a wedding ring and some gold fillings you can pull from his interred corpse to pay for that infringement. But for you guys I would think that the only good pirate is a dead pirate and leave it at that.

Seems like he thinks that we should be paying on a per player basis instead of a per published unit basis. Damn filthy pirates! You should buy one copy of every game you own for each person in your family, maybe a couple extras in case a guest comes over and wants to play. The publisher printed a set number of games and got paid for the ones they printed at the first sale. They didn't set up shop to purchase used games and sell them again, the game shop did. The publisher did nothing else to deserve a cut of the resold published game for which they already were fairly paid.

Yes, a show that gets 10M viewers for a showing will make $2M in ad revenue. Pretty sure that covers the production cost of a 40 minute rehash of some old show that has the plot written already.

Re: Re: Re:
Hey, I am just looking at this from a reasonable point of view. You obviously have no reason since you resort to name calling. No wonder your industry is failing. You hate your customers, call them stupid, assume they are thieves, throw up artificial barriers, and expect them to pay more for something that costs less to produce and distribute then before, and expects the tech industry to figure out how to keep the same old money coming in for them.

Reasonable Pirate: I watch x show on the network Fox station faithfully at 8pm every Thursday. My kid was up puking his guts out and I didn't get to watch the show this week.
Before delays: I'll just load up Fox.com and watch it Saturday. Then, when Thursday rolls around, I can pick up the show without missing a beat.
After delays: Since it won't be online for two weeks or ever I will just have to now watch the rest of the season on a two week delay online on my computer or buy/rent when it comes out on DVD since I don't want to keep watching when I could have missed something important. Or, torrent, watch, delete, and back on the couch next Thursday.

I think people LOL'd you comment thinking that it must be sarcasm because of the blatant trollspeak. Sadly, you replied later revealing that you really believe what you poop onto your keyboard.
where your comments seemed to claim that money "disappeared"
I believe it was TechDirt debunking what pro-IP folk spout that money disappears without patents. Mike has pointed out so many times that it just gets spent elsewhere.
Anything you want to add?
Well, if you RTFA you would have seen that he spoke of an article that someone did place their name at the header? Guess you just ignored it to make a point. Typical.

I would presume you wouldn't need to file a permit if you were meeting on private property. If the owner of this private property was not aware of the gathering I am sure he would have a good case of trespassing on the mob. Try again.

Re: One thing I object to
Your quote - YouTube used clips from shows such as NBC's Saturday Night Live to build a business that Google bought for $1.65bn.
Why didn't NBC buy YouTube? Seems like it would have been a good business decision...according to you. That is the problem with your industry, you overlook successful business models and cry to the government for monopoly rents.
